A home for everyone
A pet bed that is easier to clean
Look beyond the word “washable” to the cover, filling, drying time, and the space your companion uses.

A pet bed needs to fit both the animal that rests on it and the household that cares for it. Observe the sleeping positions your pet chooses, measure the usable resting area, and check exactly which parts of a candidate bed can be cleaned.
01Measure the resting area
Look at the internal sleeping space rather than the outside dimensions alone. Raised edges and bolsters can reduce the flat area. Consider whether your companion stretches out, curls up, or changes position, and choose a location that is easy to reach and keep comfortable.
02Read “washable” carefully
Check the cover, liner, cushion, and filling separately. Confirm the permitted washing method, temperature, and drying process for each component. A removable cover does not automatically mean that the entire bed can go in a washing machine.
03Plan the cleaning cycle
Compare the component sizes with the capacity of the washing equipment you use. Think about drying space and whether a spare cover would be useful. Following the maker’s instructions is more important than choosing a fabric that merely looks easy to maintain.
04Check the construction regularly
Inspect closures, loose threads, and exposed filling during use. Choose the design with your pet’s habits in mind and follow the manufacturer’s supervision guidance. Claims about orthopedic benefits or health conditions require more than a comfortable-looking photograph; ask your veterinarian about individual health needs.
Two approaches to consider
| Approach | May suit | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Flat mat | A simpler shape and flexible placement | Check usable cushioning and care directions. |
| Bolstered bed | A pet that likes a defined edge | Measure the smaller internal resting space. |
